Biography
I am a teacher in different branches of traditional Chinese arts: meditation, chi kung, tai chi chuan (specialty chen style), internal kung fu, and traditional southern styles.
I have been continuously teaching these disciplines, since 1999, in a wide variety of specialized centers.
I studied psychology at the University of La Laguna until the end of the fourth year; moment in which I decided not to practice that profession, to dedicate myself to a more humanistic therapy, in which I focused on the union of man and the Whole as a vehicle of knowledge and health.
In 1999 I obtained my first full diploma in Traditional Chinese Medicine with Prof. Luis Quintero, Canarian Association for Research E.D Acupuncture and Dr. Alberto Sánchez (Center for Psychology and Holistic Health), overseen by Dr Roberto González, professor in Human acupuncture and Doctor in various specialties and subjects in China, such as the modern interpretation of classical texts. The classes were given at the Official College of Physicians in Santa Cruz de Tenerife and the aforementioned centers.
I continued my studies specializing in medical practice, in particularities of the most common psychological disorders, the respiratory system, gynecology, diet therapy, digestive system, etc., between 1999 and 2003 through a face-to-face and distance study under the direction of Roberto González (Shuang Yi Biomedical Association) and Alberto Sánchez (Center for Holistic Health and Psychology). My relationship and courses at the Mexican institute and its updates continues until 2009.
I have developed a comprehensive study of herbalism from the Chinese and Amazonian perspectives.
In January 2006 I opened my own Institute of Traditional Medicine and Chinese traditional arts in Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
I taught three first cycles of teaching Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine, and a second, in my Institute and in different centers, under the guidance of Prof. Alberto Sánchez.
The excellent results of the original and traditional teaching, in my students, were an attempt to move away from the standardized concepts, to give a secondary place to the modern conceptions of Western medicine. Ancient Chinese medicine is an ancient form of Shamanism, that is, a pure relationship, a perfect union between man and nature. This was, mainly, the reason that prompted me to go on my way, regardless of my previous influences on this art.
I have managed to go much deeper into the understanding of the traditional uses of herbalism as a result of my studies in Amazonian ethnomedicine. From then on, my life focused on an absolute dedication to Amazonian spirituality and medicine, a knowledge that I owe to the teachers of the “Shuar” people, who became my family. I especially want to highlight Francisco Jimbikit, an eminence in teaching and healing, whose guidance has been impressive. My knowledge in Chinese medicine and its artistic expression through acupuncture, has been consolidated towards a real understanding, which comes from my own awareness, from my inner awakening, through Shamanism.
In 2007 I was appointed traditional physician and spiritual leader by the first corporation in charge of protecting the spiritual heritage of the “Shuar” people in Ecuador. This happened after many years in the study of that culture, knowledge, medicine and spirituality, under the guidance of several prestigious teachers and family; I emphasize once again, in particular, Francisco Jimbikit. I have achieved recognition for my mastery in plant management, healing, shamanic rituals, transmissions, art, music, crafts and strategies to guide a person to their reunion with the Spirit.
Regarding my present work in consultation, I keep the modern approaches of Chinese universities, but my expertise in the relationship with Nature and the development of the art of Union with Life has opened up an unlimited field of understanding to me. I feel that my exercise of the Amazonian wisdom does not separate me from the ancient Chinese masters (who today can only be read in the classics) and this is, for true lovers of these arts, an achievement of a lifetime.
I travel all over the world to give lectures, seminars, consultations, ceremonies and other related events; I share the ancestral knowledge that I believe should not fall into oblivion.
In April 2014, my first book, "The Great Song of Shamanism", was published. Written in the full inspiration of many years of dedication to practice and work, I believe it is the first book of its kind and style. Written by a master of the Shuar tradition, it expresses the depth and true meaning of ancestral Shamanism: a path of healing and wisdom. It is a treatise on how to help ourselves in modern times and a detailed account of our separation from Life. It clarifies the true feeling of a man on this path, far removed from scientific, religious, anthropological, or other speculative approaches.
A year and a half later, my second work, "The Jewel That Floods All Feeling: The 72 Enchantments of Tobacco", was published. This book is a peculiar work that seeks to convey the profound relationship of Native American peoples with the sacred Tobacco leaf. It poetically describes the feeling of the man-world relationship of a Shaman during selected ceremonial moments. The depth of knowledge and authenticity of the feeling conveyed is indescribable, as is the healing it brings to our modern culture by immersing us in the spiritual way of life that the relationship with Tobacco represented for the peoples of the Americas. The 72 enchantments immerse the reader in a free fall toward the correct feeling of Being, aiming to be medicine that unifies their individual, disordered tendencies disconnected from the world into the one Great Feeling that carries the wealth of original memory. Tobacco was always considered by American Shamanism as the most important leaf—the living book written by the hand of Arutam (Great Spirit) with His blood filled with His feeling. Given to our ancestors in dreams, it continues to make young men of our time dream, see, and feel.
This work also stands as an effort to preserve the ancient art of Shamanism, offering so many answers to the drift of our current times. It invites us to reflect from the brightest summit of knowledge.
I develop a project, together with Jordi, in the high Amazon rainforest of Ecuador, where people from all over the world can spend enough time in the open and integrated in nature, in accordance with the ancient way of life. An exemplary international project of natural sustainability, where anyone accustomed to urban life can remember and regain confidence in himself and in our mother earth. Whether it is to learn the art of Shamanism and traditional medicine, or to heal from a disease, this opens up beautiful possibilities in today's world.
